Thomas Satyadas is a consultant and surgeon who has really taken time to listen to me as one of his patients, his communication in writing and in person are always clear and understandable and he makes me feel that I am important to him. He looks after you so well at every stage of the process from the initial consultation through the pre assessments  to the operation and afterwards. I have been very Impressed with how he has liaised with my brother to update him on the outcome of my procedure and also to interact on a more personal level. He asks questions and shows an interest in people. Thomas’s skills as an expert surgeon are very clear to see. I can never truly express the depth of my thanks and gratitude to my Mr Satyadas for everything he has done for me over the last 48 hours. For four weeks, I had been suffering with a massive haematoma in my abdomen following what should have been a straightforward hernia operation. The pain I was experiencing was on another level. My skin felt as though it was going to explode, and the lump had become as hard as a brick wall. I couldn’t wear normal clothes, I was permanently exhausted and, more than anything, it was having a devastating effect on my mental health. As someone who is normally outgoing, sociable and always chatting, I had reached a point where I couldn’t speak or interact with anyone. I was constantly crying and felt completely overwhelmed. I knew something had to be done, and it had to be done quickly. My original consultant had retired, and I had been transferred to another consultant who couldn’t see me for another week. That sent me into absolute turmoil. I simply didn’t feel that I could carry on like this. I rang reception at the Alexandra Hospital and explained that I desperately needed to see a consultant that day because something had to be done. I was so fortunate that Mr Satyadas’ secretary, Sarah, called me. Sarah herself was incredibly compassionate, understanding and helpful, and she told me that Mr Satyadas would see me at 6:30pm. I cannot tell you how grateful I was. Mr Satyadas had already looked at my scan and immediately recognised the seriousness of the situation. His words were that this lady needed operating on right away. I was admitted that very day. When Mr Satyadas came to see me, he immediately made me feel calm, relaxed and, most importantly, safe. He explained exactly what he was going to do and spoke to me with such kindness and reassurance. His soft, caring nature simply oozed from him. At a time when I was frightened and completely vulnerable, he gave me a sense of security that I desperately needed. Just four hours later, I was taken to theatre. Mr Satyadas emptied three litres of blood and fluid from my abdomen. When I woke up, I genuinely felt like a different person. The pressure, pain and sheer exhaustion that I had been living with for four weeks had finally been relieved. To me, this incredible man didn’t just perform an operation — he gave me my life back. I honestly don’t know what would have happened to me if he hadn’t stepped in when he did. I couldn’t see a way forward, physically or mentally, and I was at breaking point. His skill, knowledge, compassion and determination changed everything for me. Mr Satyadas, I will never be able to thank you enough. You saw me when I was at my lowest, you listened to me, you acted when I desperately needed help, and you made me feel safe when I was terrified. I will forever be grateful to you and to Sarah for making this happen so quickly. You didn’t just treat me — you gave me the chance to become me again. Having had umbilical hernia repair before (with another provider) I was left with a serious infection, twisted stitches and a secondary defect. Having met Dr Satyadas for the first time I was naturally apprehensive given my history! However, Dr Satyadas recognised straight away what had happened and was instantly able to advise how to repair the problem safely and reduce risk of future damage. Dr Satyadas converted me from a nervous patient to a confident patient immediately and the results are far better than I ever could have imagined. I had a great experience with Mr Satyadas for my gallbladder removal surgery. I’m 2 and a half weeks post-surgery today and I feel great. I can be a very anxious patient, but the entire team he works with took amazing care of me whilst I was in for my procedure which was greatly appreciated and really helped calm my nerves. Mr Satyadas is the best of the best! I cannot thank him and his team enough — they have been truly outstanding. Having had numerous surgeries throughout my life, I'm what you'd call a complex patient, and I always approach new procedures with a level of trepidation. I need extra safety precautions taken into account, and that anxiety usually lingers right up until I'm under anaesthetic. But within the first few minutes of meeting Mr Satyadas, that anxiety simply melted away. Not only is he a true professional at the top of his game, but the level of support and kindness he offers is second to none. He took everything in his stride, put my safety first at every step, and made me feel completely reassured in his hands. Mr Satyadas was brilliant. Healed up really quick and recovery time was minimal. His office were really on it and communicative, and the whole process was easy and efficient.
